Nathan Waterston is set to return to the starting line-up as Workington Reds aim to reach the FA Trophy quarter-finals tomorrow, ko 3pm.

Reds entertain National League high-fliers Bromley in the last 16 of the competition – with Wembley still in their sights.

They will go into the match without centre half Dan Wordsworth, who is serving a two match suspension, but joint manager Lee Andrews is confident his reshuffled side can do the job.

“We will have to reshuffle but I am confident that whoever we bring in won’t weaken the side,” said Andrews. “Matty (Douglas) will probably move to centre half and Phil (McLuckie) will come to right back.

“We will miss Phil’s energy in the middle of the park but we may need him back there.

“I think we will probably revert back to a 4-4-2 formation and Nathan will come in and go up front with Scott Allison.”

The game is one of the biggest Workington have had in recent years and they would love to emulate their best ever finish in the competition – which was reaching the quarter-finals.

And Andrews admitted it was a key game, both for the club financially, and for the players’ ambitions, with £8,000 at stake for the winners.

“For the club this is massive, any money coming in is a welcome boost to the coffers,” he said.

“So financially it is a key game and hopefully we will also get a good crowd which is a lift to the players as well.

“Then, as a group of players, we obviously want to achieve things. And a cup upset would be a major achievement and also a confidence boost for the lads.”

Reds are going into the game on the back of two league defeats but Andrews is not worried, saying the lapse is just temporary and his side will bounce back.

He added: “It is just a temporary blip at the moment, we have lost two games but we are not at panic stations, not after the run we previously had.

“It was a blow that Tuesday night’s game against Marine was off as we would have liked to have put things right and got back to winning ways.

“But if we can win tomorrow it will lift confidence massively for the remainder of the season.”
