Form will go out the window when Haven bid to reach the play-off final, says coach Carl Forster.

Haven welcome York City Knights to the Recreation Ground on Sunday (ko 3pm) for the League One play-off semi final.

The visitors have lost their last two fixtures, including a 26-16 defeat against Haven just two weeks ago.

But Forster said: "They rested players against us and we fell behind before coming back.

"We won't be reading into form, it's knockout rugby now and we're 80 minutes from the final but also 80 minutes from our season finishing."

Full back Ash Robson will be back in contention for York after serving a six match ban for spitting.

While Forster is hopeful Dion Aiye and James Newton will shake off knocks and take the field for Haven. The player-coach had to leave the field after banging his knee against Workington last week but will be fit to play.

He said: "We'll do our homework this week, they shift the ball really well and I imagine Ash Robson will come back in at full back after his ban.

"They've got some really dangerous players, their attack is their strength but I think our defence is ours.

"Dion and James Newton are struggling but I think they will pull through for Sunday. I got a bang on the knee, it's still a little sore now but it's nothing major."

The final super eights fixture saw Haven run out 56-6 winners over Workington in the derby at Derwent Park.

"It shows how far we have come," said Forster. "They embarrassed us in pre-season and we did a good number on them on Sunday.

"We knew they had a few missing and wouldn't have the reinforcements in the middle. It's good for the fans."

Club stalwarts Craig Calvert and Scott McAvoy both crossed for tries in their final derby.

Forster said: "It was nice both of them scored, I took them off so they could have a moment with the fans. It was two touching moments, which will hopefully stay with them forever.

"Hopefully we'll keep them involved at the club, they are big shoes to fill on and off the field, the club captain and the record try scorer."

Now, Forster is hoping some of the younger players can step up and take their places.

"It's a good chance for Connor Holliday, Jordan Burns or Lewis Brown to stand up," he said. "They could easily be the next lads like them, hopefully they will embrace it."
