Wyndham Pony Club youngster Ruby-Jean Skelton has qualified for the Scope Festival of Show Jumping.

The 13-year-old has been competing since the age of five and is delighted to have qualified for the prestigious competition, due to be held in North Wales in August.

She qualified following some good results at the Richmond Equestrian Centre.

On board her pony Harry for just the third competition as partners, Ruby-Jean excelled.

She finished second in a group of 35 riders from across the UK in the 80cm showjumping class, then second again in the 90cm Scope Qualifiying Class.

Proud mum Carmen Brown Skelton said: “There were over 30 riders in this class, most of whom were older than Ruby-Jean so she was delighted with Harry.

“The Scope Festival of Show Jumping is in North Wales this year and is a massive competition for a 13-year-old girl.

“As we are self-funded I am the unpaid team trainer, wagon driver and groom, but she’s achieving on her own merit and hard work.”
