Cleator Moor Celtic remain on top of the Wearside League after a convincing 6-0 victory over Harton and Westoe.

Celtic now have 11 wins from their 12 games so far this season and show no signs of letting up.

Callum Birdsall was the danger man for Celtic as he rattled home four goals, to take his league tally for this season up to 16.

This means he is also the top league goal-scorer so far, with team-mate Ryan Hall in second with 14.

Hall was not on the scoresheet on this occasion, with the further two goals coming courtesy of Tom Mahone and sub Leigh Dunn.

At the opposite end of the table, Windscale remain rock bottom, after a much improved performance at Annfield Plain didn't give the Egremont side what they deserved from the encounter.

At the final whistle, Windscale slipped up 3-2 at the hands of their hosts.

Lewis Jolly and Ray Sempill failed with attempts early on while Morley headed wide for the home team.

Sempill and Darren Donald also had chances but couldn’t convert while Kai Rutherford in goal saved well from Plain striker Donnelly.

The final 15 minutes of the half belonged to Windscale as first Matt Sempill's strike was tipped round the post by keeper Jackson and moments later the same player hit the post with an angled drive.

Jackson then saved Jolly's free kick and from the resultant corner Ray Sempill headed over from close range.

Matt Sempill then headed against the same post he’d struck earlier and Jordan Livingstone could only fire the rebound over the bar.

Then, on the stroke of half time, Matt Sempill was brought down by the keeper and Ryan Byrne coolly slotted away the penalty to give Windscale the lead.

Unfortunately the lead lasted barely a minute as immediately after the break Gohery's speculative shot from wide took a wicked deflection and looped onto the crossbar and into the net for 1-1.

Ten minutes later a long ball caught Windscale square and McPherson ran through to score to put Plain 2-1 up.

Windscale rallied though and on 63 minutes Lewis Jolly broke free on the left before cutting inside and placing a low drive past Jackson to level the score at 2-2.

But, with 15 minutes left, a scramble in the box saw Malpass scuff a shot through a crowd of players and into the net to put Plain back in front 3-2.

As in the final 10 minutes of the first half, Windscale drove forward and Livingstone, Sempill and Jolly all had good opportunities to equalise once again but couldn't get past Jackson in goal and time ran out leaving a very relieved Annfield Plain bench with all three points.
