WHITEHAVEN RL will soon launch this season's School Programme. 

Some of the team will be attending schools in the area to help pupils develop their sporting and reading skills. 

A Whitehaven RL spokesperson said: "Whitehaven Rugby League is delighted to announce the launch of this season's School Programme.

"Players are attending Monkwray school to assist with reading and rugby skills also Mayfield School and Whitehaven Academy have asked for skills sessions and in-class mentoring. The Australian players are committed and eager to commence.

"Thanks to our sponsors for making this possible - Stork Engineering, Ortus Energy, and Morgan Sindall.

"If any further company would like to be part of this exciting initiative please contact the Whitehaven RLFC office.

"In addition to this, we are also hosting a half-term training camp run by three of our new Australian contingent Lachlan Hanneghan, Owen McCarron, and Jake Maizen.

"This will be at the Ortus Rec on Thursday, February 15 starting at 1pm and lasting for two hours. This camp is open to ages 6-15 for the price of £8 per child and is available to book via our online store."
