WHITEHAVEN RL's head coach Jonty Gorley has spoken following the final pre-season session before Christmas.

He has discussed training with the team and also looking ahead to the new season.

Mr Gorley said on social media: "We've changed our philosophy a bit this year with what's gone on the last couple of seasons.

"We've had a couple of bits of feedback from lads from when I've been here, this is my sixth pre-season with Whitehaven and these first four weeks have been the hardest that we've had.

"The lads who've been here that long have been saying that as well and that's what we need to be like, we need to up our standards that's with training as well as games and we've certainly done that and it's been tough.

"We've mixed it up a bit this year regarding what we're doing each night."

Jonty explained that on Tuesday nights the team has been doing lots of work in the gym and doing outdoor training around Whitehaven.

On Thursdays, the team has also been doing gym work along with other types of training.

He says that after the new year the team will be spending nine weeks preparing for the new season in March 2024.
