A Whitehaven RL player will be entering his tenth season at the club.

Connor Holliday will begin his tenth season in 2024, a major milestone for a rugby league player.

Holliday has made many accomplishments while playing for the West Cumbrian outfit and hopes to progress further in the season next year.

He says he is also overjoyed to represent Cumbria against North Wales for the Kyle Amor Testimonial game.

Mr Holliday said: "It's had its ups and downs, but I think over the past couple of years being in the Championship it's been good.

"A couple of years ago we hit the playoffs and personally I think I've been playing well over the past couple of years, I really enjoy it down there.

"One of my biggest highlights would be when we won League 1 in 2019, nobody really gave us a chance and thought we'd do well but we went on to win the league and secured our place in the Championship.

"Another reason I’ve found it so enjoyable down there for the past decade is the people I’ve come across and friends I’ve made for life from the playing and coaching staff to the groundsmen and directors as well as the fans for being there for me and the team on all out ups and downs over the time I’ve been there.

"Getting to travel to Toronto in 2017 in the play-off is an experience I’ll never forget as well as traveling to France twice to face Toulouse and Catalan dragons.

"I'm also really looking forward to playing for Cumbria, I was gutted last year being injured and missing out on it so I'm happy to be getting involved this year and hopefully they'll be a good crowd to support Kyle.

"I'm quite positive about the season ahead, as long as we keep a lot of the lads, we had last year and build on that we should do alright.

"The club seems to be going in the right direction with a new sponsor so hopefully any issues will sort themselves out and us players will be able to do what we do best and that's play rugby."
