Whitehaven Rugby League has announced that Australian prop forward Lucas Castle has signed a 12-month contract extension to remain at the LEL Arena for a second season.

Having signed ahead of the 2023 Betfred Championship campaign Castle was ever present for Jonty Gorley’s side making 28 appearances scoring a solitary try in defeat at Widnes back in July.

The forward has also been part of the team that has seen the club’s community work start again in 2023 alongside fellow Australians Lachlan Lanskey & Alex Bishop.

Speaking about signing a new deal Castle spoke saying: “I’ve loved my time here, the decision to stay here wasn’t an easy one as it hasn’t been an easy year but I’m really chuffed to be staying here.

"I started a little bit slow when I got here but in the last couple of months I’ve found my feet, I love all the boys here and the coaching staff is great.”
