Your chance to help shape Millom's economy

REGENERATION chiefs are hoping for an injection of fresh blood to help shape the future of Millom.
Millom and Haverigg Economic Development Group was founded in 1996 and has helped channel millions of pounds into the town.
After 14 years on the group, Roland Woodward has said he will stand down in December.
The board has now launched an appeal for new members to join the group.
Mr Woodward spearheaded campaigns for a new community swimming pool alongside the Lighthouse Project in Haverigg and regeneration plans which have helped the town flourish.
Mr Woodward said: “I was a founder member of the group. I just feel I’ve had a long run at it and it’s time somebody else took it up.
“The role needs somebody with energy and enthusiasm along with a broad view of the needs of South Copeland.
“I am confident the group now has the solid base required for the next moves into the future.”
The directors of the group help prioritise and process funding applications from within the community, around 13 positions will be open for application.
Anyone interested in becoming a director should send a CV and covering letter to Millom and Haverigg Economic Development Group, Millom Network Centre, Salthouse Road, Millom, Cumbria, LA18 5AB.
