Sheep killed as trailer overturns

SIXTY sheep were killed and others injured after the trailer they were being carried in overturned.

Most of the animals died instantly in the accident just after 11.30am on Monday, while four had to be put down by vets due to the extent of their injuries.

A 39-year-old man who was driving the tractor pulling the livestock trailer was uninjured in the incident.

It happened on a remote road, near to Tutehill Farm between the villages of Pica and Arlecdon.

No other vehicles were involved.

The road from its junctions with Pica and Arlecdon was closed while the scene was cleared.
