Roadworks warning to town motorists

ROADWORKS will begin on two Whitehaven town centre streets next week, starting on Monday, June 2.

Have your say

Why are people so negative round here? It baffles me it really does. Have you ever stopped to think that perhaps the roads are getting resurfaced due to the amount of extra traffic that will soon be using these roads?? You would soon be moaning if nothing was done & then in a years time when the road is falling to bits you would be back on here moaning!!

No wonder whitehaven has gone downhill- the majority of residents are a bunch of moaning good for nothing's who hate to see progression!!

Ben, Can i just point out that this is CUMBRIA COUNTY COUNCIL's responsibility as the article clearly states not Copeland Borough Council.. just before anyone else jumps on the "i hate CBC" band wagon.....

Whilst the rest of Cumbria's roads fall to bits the known center of the universe ie Whitehaven gets its roads fixed I hope the new mayor will see further than the outskirts of Whitehaven and realize there is a huge borough out there with towns such as Millom and villages like bootle Eskdale Frizington all of which get nothing spent on them because the black hole that is Whitehaven council suck all the money the can from everywhere else in the area and either waste it or spend it doing it up its own town, You are Copeland borough council try remembering this when you waste our money

It doesnt matter to me who has paid for it; CBC, CCC, Sellafield or the main contractor. There are a 1000 people coming to work in Whitehaven. That means considerable increased business, which in time should lead to more interest from businesses which may fill the empty premises. I hear people talk about how the traffic is going to be terrible. Its a TOWN CENTRE, its supposed to be busy!

Amazing isnt it the rest of cumbria,s roads are dropping to bits but apparently the center of the known universe ie Whitehaven gets its road done first before the rest of copeland i wonder why

Never seen such a blatent butt kissing excercise as this, it's like rolling out a red carpet for sellafield workers coming to albion street, would'nt be suprising if it is red tarmac talk about desperation to impress, what a joke the best roads in cumbria but unfortunatly lead to nothing but charity shops and cafes still when the traffics crawling along it'll be a smooth ride. Why the critisism, well they have no money for potholes, so how can they do this that is of course unless they has been sub contracted by sellafield and they have paid for it as per usual.
