Roadworks warning to town motorists

ROADWORKS will begin on two Whitehaven town centre streets next week, starting on Monday, June 2.

Cumbria County Council is carrying out road resurfacing on Lowther Street and Scotch Street over four nights. The works will take place one after the other and will mean both streets are closed.

Scotch Street will be closed on Monday and Tuesday between 7pm and 7am and Lowther Street will be closed Wednesday and Thursday between 7pm and 7am. Diversion routes will be sign posted.

Residents are asked that if their vehicle is usually parked either of the streets during these times they should make alternative arrangements and remove the vehicle from the works area during the closures.

Resurfacing work continues on Irish Street, Newtown and Swingpump Lane between 7pm and 7am until Monday.

Have your say

Why are people so negative round here? It baffles me it really does. Have you ever stopped to think that perhaps the roads are getting resurfaced due to the amount of extra traffic that will soon be using these roads?? You would soon be moaning if nothing was done & then in a years time when the road is falling to bits you would be back on here moaning!!

No wonder whitehaven has gone downhill- the majority of residents are a bunch of moaning good for nothing's who hate to see progression!!

Ben, Can i just point out that this is CUMBRIA COUNTY COUNCIL's responsibility as the article clearly states not Copeland Borough Council.. just before anyone else jumps on the "i hate CBC" band wagon.....
