Public to view eco-development plans

THE public will get the chance to view detailed plans for a new eco-development when they go on show this week.
The plans for the former Ministry of Defence site at Wellbank, near Bootle, will be put on display at a public meeting in Captain Shaw’s hall, Bootle, on Monday.
A short film will give a glimpse of what the proposed site will look like.
The development includes plans for 47 homes, a hotel, business space and an anaerobic digester which will harness the power of slurry to help generate green energy.
Proposals include 13 detached properties, four bungalows, eight terraced homes and 22 semi-detached homes.
A spokeswoman for the company said: “Beatrix Potter set the scene for the national park in the last century, we’re aiming for Wellbank to set it for the next century.”
David Scott, who runs Bootle Stores in the village, said: “If it gets off the ground myself, and the other businesses in the area, can only welcome it. It could bring employment and benefit at least a five-mile radius from Bootle.”
The Rev James Thomas, chairman of governors and clerk to Bootle Parish Council, said: “Any development, within reason, is good for the village.”
The meeting is in Captain Shaw’s Hall, Main Street, Bootle, from 7pm.
