THE former Hensingham Infant School in Whitehaven is being demolished.
It has been purchased by building and joinery contractors WR Richardson Ltd, of Winder, Frizington.
The building – which was latterly called Melbreak House – should be down by the end of next week but it is not yet certain what is being planned for the site.
The family-owned business was responsible for the Falcon Court apartments developments in Irish Street, Whitehaven.
It was commended for the complex in the Best Large Housing Development category at the LABC Building Excellence Awards.

Have your say
I attended this school 1998-01 and can honestly say it was the best time in my life - fantastic and supportive staff who genuinely cared for the kids and their education. Would like to thank all of them for there input in my life and I'm gutted they've demolished the building that housed such good memories.
Iwent to Hensingham infants in 1952 I remember miss Johns the headteacher giving us sweets for attending and miss Simpson in the wooden shed the cold outside toilets.Mrs Graham who played the piano and inceddently played the chuech organ for our wedding in 1980.Ihave a photo of me Jennifer Tyson and i think Joyce Hodgson taken in one of the classrooms sad to hear it has been pulled down
