NORTH Kent police are urging people to keep doors and windows securely locked, after three houses in Gravesend were broken into through open windows.
The incidents took place in Red Street, Park Avenue, and York Road over the weekend. In all cases the homeowners had gone out leaving windows open.
Among the items stolen were a television and DVD player, a laptop computer worth £2,000, and the keys to a Volvo. The car, worth £18,000, was then stolen.
Crime reduction unit spokesman Inspector Andy Pritchard said: "An opportunist thief can easily gain access through even a partially opened window."
Anyone with information about the burglaries, should call 01322 283111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
