A Whitehaven actor has rubbed shoulders with stars in a major film and will also appear in a popular reality TV show set to air next week.

Calvin Davidson, originally from Bransty, will star in E4’s Coach Trip: Road to Marbella and he’ll take to the big screen as an extra in T2 Trainspotting , the follow-up to Danny Boyle’s hit 90s film, which opens in cinemas this month.

Calvin, who now lives in Montrose, Scotland, has also been named Mr Scotland for the past two years.

The former St Benedict’s School pupil will make his reality TV debut on Monday at 7.30pm when Coach Trip gets under way.

He said: “I applied with my friend Conrad who I met back in 2015 at a modelling competition in London.

“Straight away we became good friends and kept in touch. I just knew he’d be the right person to apply with.

“Out of several thousand applications we got an audition! Some weeks later we got the phone call to say we had been successful and they wanted us to be in the starting cast so we were flown out to Palma!

“The whole concept has been changed on Coach Trip now. It used to be mixed ages doing boring things but since the Geordie Shore production team took it over it’s all 18 to 30s with lots of partying. It has been the best thing I have ever done!”

The show sees Calvin, and his friend Conrad Williams, take part in activities and check out the local nightlife with other teams of two. At the end of each day, the pairs will vote to decide who they no longer wish to travel with.

And Calvin, who works for a security team when he’s not attending castings, will appear in cinemas across the country when the new Trainspotting film is released, after he secured a role as an extra in three scenes.

He said: “I moved up to Scotland four years ago to be closer to family, as they are from Montrose originally, and have a fresh start to focus on my dreams and ambitions.

“One of my agencies got me booked into Trainspotting 2. We got to hang out with the cast and talk to them. I sat down and had lunch with Danny Boyle and Ewen Bremner. It was surreal, they were calling me by my first name.

“Danny is amazing. He’s such a lovely guy, friendly and down to earth.

“Robert Carlyle was amazing, he took selfies with everyone and made us all laugh in a nightclub scene. He was cracking jokes and messing about.”

He also met Ewan McGregor and Jonny Lee Miller, who stayed in character throughout his time on set.
