Motorcyclists are gearing up to celebrate the 25th anniversary of a Whitehaven group.

Whitehaven Motorcycle Action Group is hosting events on September 23 and 24 to mark its milestone birthday.

Past, present and new members are invited to the weekend of celebrations at Egremont Rugby Union Club.

A Back in Pink music event will take place on Saturday, September 23 from 7pm. It will cost £5 on the door.

The band Weathered Rock will perform and there will also be a rock disco.

Proceeds will go to MAG's fighting fund.

An anniversary bike show will take place the following day from noon until 2pm, with free entry.

There will be several classes and judging will take place at 2pm.

Anne Crayston, of Whitehaven MAG, said the events are open to everyone.

"We are inviting all those who are involved in the group now.

" It is also open to people who used to be involved. They can just turn up. It's lovely for people to have a catch-up."

She said the group is also looking for new people to get involved.

Anne said since it was launched 25 years ago, the group has been taken part in a raft of fundraisers, awareness events and marshalling community ventures.

It is well-known for holding two annual motorbike rides where the group collects eggs at Easter and food at Christmas to give to numerous causes.

Over the years, the group has been involved in getting parking for motorcycles in towns including Whitehaven and Keswick.

Members have also marshalled events such as Egremont Crab Fair and Whitehaven carnival and also protect and promote riders' rights.
