A unique film will be screened in Egremont as part of an arts centre's new cinema schedule.

Florence Arts Centre is showing Loving Vincent - the world's first oil painted movie - on Friday, October 27 at 7pm.

Craig Carruthers said: "Since the closure of the Castle Cinema in the mid-1970s Egremont has been missing a place to catch films on the big screen, until now.

"The highlight of this month's screenings is the animated feature film Loving Vincent, which had it's world-premiere at the National Gallery in London on October 9.

"The film, the first fully-painted feature film, is an astonishing achievement, with 120 artists working on over 65,000 individual oil paintings which have been been filmed as individual frames to bring the story to life."

Loving Vincent is about the life of painter Vincent van Gogh, and uses the same techniques as the artist.

On Thursday, October 12, Get Out, a dark horror-comedy about race and class in the 21st century, will be shown and, on October 19, there will be a screening of award-winning British feature Daphne. Tickets for the films, and Loving Vincent, cost £5.

The centre also presents free films every Friday afternoon - Matinees at the Mine - and a free film for children every Saturday at 11am.
