A group offering support to people with multiple sclerosis is welcoming new members.

MS Society Copeland hold a social meeting on alternate Mondays at Whitehaven Golf Club from 10.30am to noon.

A spokesperson for the group said: “We offer support including social get togethers, information, emotional support and, in some cases, can help provide individuals with grants.

“We’re keen to hear from more of those affected by MS in the local area.”

The group is also keen to hear from anyone who would like to raise some funds by organising a local event, getting sponsored for a national challenge event and donating the money to help people in the local area.

Multiple sclerosis affects more than 100,000 people in the UK and symptoms typically appear in people in their 20s and 30s.

It attacks the nervous system, causing a range of unpredictable symptoms, including problems with balance and mobility, fatigue, cognitive issues and pain.
