CLASSIC sitcom The Vicar of Dibley is heading to Egremont next week.

Whitehaven and District Amateur Operatic Society (WADAOS) will perform three back-to-back episodes of the much-loved comedy, which starred Dawn French as female vicar Geraldine Granger in a village full of colourful and quirky characters.

WADAOS will present the episodes – The Arrival , The Christmas Lunch and The Songs of Praise – at Egremont Market Hall from January 20 to 23 at 7.30pm.

Carol Corless directs, and taking the lead roles are Becca Walker as the vicar, Becky Hardman as her loyal yet naive friend Alice, with Will Tillitson and Dan England as father and son David and Hugo Horton.

Also appearing are Geoff England as Frank Pickle; Peter Scott as Jim Trott; Alistair Jones as Owen Newitt; Eleanor Martin as Mrs Cropley; John Killen as Rev Pottle and Cecil; Shaun Davidson as Tristan Campbell; Dot Killen as Mrs Tinker; Ann Simpson as Ruth, Mary Tinker and auditionees; Elizabeth Dodd as Aoife.

The children are played by Teigan Payne, Sarah Dodd and Beth Quirk, and the congregation by Ian Quirk, Heather Davidson and Victoria Gee.
