PLACES are still available for this year’s Coastal Conference at the new Beacon Portal in Whitehaven.

The conference, which is organised by Copeland Borough Council and the Colourful Coast Partnership, aims to bring together people and organisations that have an interest in promoting and enhancing the coast.

It also provides the opportunity to share successes and challenges that living and working on the coast can provide.

The day will include presentations covering the new Lake District World Heritage Site, Coepland’s marine conservation designations, community action and news of an exciting and innovative marine litter project.

Organiser and Colourful Coast project officer, Sophie Badrick, said: "It’s a great chance for everyone involved with the coast across Copeland to get together, learn from each other, share their knowledge and celebrate this unique stretch of coast.

"Copeland’s coast is constantly changing, which provides problems and opportunities. We’ve got a diverse group of speakers so I’m sure there will be some lively debates."

Ms Badrick added: "For the first time this year we have a slot on the agenda for community updates.

"So, if you’d like a few minutes to highlight a project, share a problem or celebrate an achievement then this is the perfect opportunity.

"I’d like to encourage anyone to get in touch if they’d like to give an update on the day."

The conference takes place at the Beacon Portal, Whitehaven, from 10am to 3.30pm on Thursday, 19 October and is free to attend.

Booking is essential. To book a place, email: sophie.badrick@nationaltrust.org.uk or search for Copeland Coastal Conference on Eventbrite.
