ORGANISERS are "devastated" after having to call off a number of events at Copeland Stadium this summer.

The Rock and Blues Festival and At The Stadium 2016 have been cancelled due to licensing issues.

The Not in Oktoberfest last month, which was also due to be held at Copeland Stadium, was called off for the same reason.

Organisers, Mighty Boof Promotions, said the cancellation of all the events was caused by a "misunderstanding" between Copeland Stadium and Copeland Council.

Danny Maudling of Mighty Boof said that ticket holders will be refunded and the cancellation was "not through any fault of our own".

He said: "We have been in talks with the council to get this issue sorted but in the time frame we have it is just is not possible for this years events.

"We are devastated to have to do this especially at such a late stage and after a great run of gigs but unfortunately this is completely out of our hands."

The Rock and Blues Festival was due to be held on August 12 and 13.

Blues and prog rock star Martin Turner, a founding member and bassist of Wishbone Ash, was due to headline the Friday headline slot, while award winning blue rock titans King King were booked for the Saturday night.

Organisers stressed that the ruling does not affect the Buddys Ball, MOD SKA PUNK All Dayer or Lindisfarne events it has organised.

They added: "If you have any private bookings with us these are also unaffected."
