A mother who wanted something festive for her children has organised an action-packed Christmas fayre in Cleator Moor.

Christmas will be coming early to the town, with the event on November 12.

The fayre at Cleator Moor Civic Hall will feature almost 30 local business stalls selling Christmas gifts and a children’s section with Christmas crafts. Children will have the opportunity to get into the festive spirit with glitter tattoos, face painting and candy floss.

It will also host a postbox to the North Pole for the children to post their letters to Santa, music and entertainment throughout the day, a raffle and tombola.

The event has been organised by mother-of-two Lauren McAdam, who was inspired by her children’s love of Christmas.

The 32-year-old from Whitehaven, said: “I absolutely love Christmas as do my two little boys. I’m just aware there’s not really much going on these days for families around Christmas like when I was little so wanted to organise something where local businesses could sell their things and the kids could enjoy it too.

“The civic hall has been fantastic and gone out of their way to support the event as have local businesses donating raffle prizes.”

The event will run from 10:30am until 2:30pm.

There will be more festive fun in Cleator Moor at the Christmas lights switch on and festive market, which is provisionally set for November 25.

Street theatre and outdoor arts will be coming to the town as part of the event on the market square. Theatre group Fool’s Paradise will be performing at the event as well as Cleator Moor Brass.

The switch on will be part of a Christmas Market in the civic hall which is organised by the Cleator Moor Town Team. The Christmas lights will be funded and supplied by Cleator Moor Town Council. The market event funded by Cleator Moor Town Council and Cleator Moor Town Team.
