A mum has appeared in court accused of plotting to murder her own son.
Alison Murphy, 51, is accused of conspiring to murder Antony Murphy.
Another son, Gary Lee Murphy, 22, also faces a charge. He is accused of attempting to murder his brother, Antony.
They appeared at Carlisle Crown Court to face charges relating to Friday, April 15, today.
Both Gary Murphy and Alison Murphy appeared via separate video links before Judge Peter Davies.
Neither defendant entered a plea during a hearing which lasted almost 25 minutes.
This was adjourned until August 12 when both are due to reappear at the crown court.
It was said that a provisional trial date has been fixed for a date in October.
In the meantime Gary Murphy, of Hinnings Road, Distington, was remanded in custody.
Alison Murphy, of Copeland Avenue, Whitehaven, was granted conditional bail by Judge Davies - on stringent terms to an address outside of Cumbria.
