Lakeland landmarks will feature in a new exhibition by Lowes Court Gallery's artist of the month for July.

Tetiana Scott will hang her work, which features local landscapes, in the Main Street gallery.

Having met and married a Cumbrian man, Tetiana left her old home in Odessa, Ukraine, to start a new life in West Cumbria with her husband Simeon.

She was born in the Ukraine but spent most of her younger working life in the Soviet Union where she trained in design, going on to work on large scale public art pieces.

Gareth Harrison, from Lowes Court, said: "Most of the work that she has exhibited in Lowes Court over the last two years has been painted in acrylics, but now she is also using oils to good effect in her strongly depicted landscapes and seascapes.

"Some of her work portrays well known Lakeland landmarks, and some pieces show her love of the energy of the sea and changing weather."

Last month, painter Madeleine Warren displayed her impressionistic images of wild flowers in fields and on verges at the gallery.

She has also regularly exhibited work with the Art in Irton group at Santon Bridge.

Lowes Court is a charitable organisation which supports artists in Cumbria and exhibits members' work throughout the year in its main gallery.

It is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 10am and 2pm and the gallery also aims to open until 5pm on Thursdays, subject to staffing.

As well as Tetiana's original paintings, there will be a selection of cards and prints for sale.
