THE UK’s official number one Elvis tribute act is coming to Egremont in memory of a local teenager.

All in aid of Danica’s Dream Fund, Mark Summers brings his ‘The Young Elvis Show’ to the town’s Conservative Club – fresh from being the winner of the UK National Tribute Awards.

Competing against hundreds of Elvis tribute acts from across the UK, Mark was recognised as the best by the Agents’ Association in the competition earlier this year.

All proceeds from the gig will go to the fund the Dream Fund charity which was set up following the death of 15-year-old Danica Maxwell in 2010. It supports children with cancer.

From stage, radio and TV, Mark has toured worldwide as Elvis working with members of Elvis’ original band, close friends and even some of the Presley family.

The high-energy show is crammed full of The King’s greatest hits including That’s All Right (Mama) from the beginning of his illustrious career all the way through to songs such as Suspicious Minds in the late sixties.

Speaking to The Whitehaven News from Paris, Mark said he’s “really looking forward to the show”.

And he also says that earlier this year he was lucky enough to meet Elvis Presley’s former wife Priscilla Presley, describing it as “the highlight of my career”.

“I was honoured when she said she loved my ideas for the show and she also said I was unique and different which was brilliant,” he said.

The performance, which takes place on August 14 at 7.30pm, will also include singer Guy Lancaster and a disco.

Tickets are on sale now and can be bought by calling 01946 820318 or Daniel Shutt on 07907 290543.
