SINGING star Jolan is set to dazzle crowds at Whitehaven's Christmas lights switch on.
It has been announced that The Voice finalist will be switching on the town's festive lights on November 20.
An ice rink is set to be brought into the town for around four to six weeks over Christmas.
Details about the festive extravaganza were revealed at the latest Whitehaven Town Council meeting.
Darren Elliot, chairman of the town council's Christmas events committee, said the switch-on event will feature the usual fairground, CFM stage and vendors.
Charles Maudling, vice chair of the Christmas committee and chair of the Whitehaven Chamber of Trade, later told the News & Star: "We are hoping to pull in the crowds like we did last year. We want to go from strength to strength."
Youngsters will have the chance to meet glamorous princesses and adventurous superhero characters at the event.
And Mr Maudling said Jolan, of Moor Row, "is over the moon" to be switching on the lights.
Since he finished second in the BBC One talent show, Jolan has performed at numerous events across Cumbria, including Whitehaven, Carlisle's Pride festival and Maryport Gala Day.
Mr Maudling said more plans are in the pipeline for festive activities in the town.
And he said thanks goes to the Whitehaven Town Council for supporting the Christmas lights switch-on and events.
