Pupils at Jericho Primary School are preparing for an international Lego competition.

The school will take part in the First Lego League - a global robotics challenge aimed at 9-16 year olds, where pupils are tasked to solve real life problems with the help of a Lego robot.

Jo McGill, Deputy Head of Jericho Primary School said: “The Jericho First Lego League team is really looking forward to getting started with the project.

"They love Lego and creating models and can’t wait to begin building and learning how to programme their robot.

"The children are excited about representing Jericho and working as a team, and being there to help each other out.”

Construction and Infrastructure company Morgan Sindall will be helping pupils to prepare for the global robotics challenge.

The company will provide three mentors to support pupils through the competition.

The mentors, who all work for Morgan Sindall, will visit the school on a fortnightly basis to help the children design their own robot.

Morgan Sindall has also sponsored the school to purchase the kit required to take part in the competition.

Dave Polkey, specialist operations director for Morgan Sindall said: “We are delighted to be supporting Jericho Primary School through the First Lego League competition.

"This is a great way to encourage and teach the next generation about the importance of science, technology, engineering and maths subjects, as well as helping them to develop vital life skills.”
