ENNERDALE Country House Hotel has applied for a 14-bedroom extension which owners hope will create jobs and benefit the local economy.

The extension was previously approved in July 2008, but because the work has not been completed, permission has been reapplied for.

A spokesman for the hotel said however there were no plans to work on the extension in the immediate future.

The planning agent, Lloyd Thompson, said: “The hotel owners want to create more bedrooms and this number is enough to make it economical for them to build but not too many to overpower the site and the context.

“The additional bedrooms will provide more visitor accommodation and create extra employment, both of which will benefit the local economy.”
