A SEASCALE photographer and painter has been named artist of the month at Lowes Court Gallery.

Gareth Harrison’s work will adorn the walls of the Main Street gallery throughout September.

His pictures and paintings, which are often inspired by the Wasdale area, are usually landscape based.

“I’ve been associated with Lowes Court for 20 years now as an exhibitor and looking after hanging the paintings in the gallery,” Gareth said.

“I’m pleased to have a space to show my work, it’s nice to put a collection together. I do a wide range, from landscape to abstract, as well as landscape photography.”

Gareth trained and worked for a number of years in photography and computer graphics before turning full-time to his own artwork.

He takes his inspiration from the moods and colours of autumn and winter and continues to explore new techniques and working methods alongside traditional approaches.

Gareth said: “Most of my inspiration comes from the environment.

“I particularly like au-tumn when the hot colours come out, although I’m equally at home in monochrome.”

He has been involved with Lowes Court for a number of years, and also exhibits with the Art in Irton Group, based in Santon Bridge.

His range of work includes paintings using oil, acrylic and mixed media, prints from selected works, landscape and colour derivations in photography, plus a wide variety of cards.
