CLEATOR Moor Town Council is still considering an asset transfer of three car parks to keep parking free.
Parking on Jacktrees Road and the square is currently free because the town council and its partners, Phoenix Enterprise Centre and Regen North East Copeland, contribute an annual sum to Copeland.
This sum covers the income expected from parking meters. At a public meeting, town councillors expressed their wish to retain control of the car parks with free access to all.
Clerk, Helen Gilmour, said she contacted Copeland Council for more information about the possible asset transfer several months back - she said the information has not yet been delivered.
