AFTER helping to deliver hundreds of babies, Anne Musgrave, is retiring to spend more time with her own grandchildren.

Anne has stepped down as head of midwifery for North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust after more than 40 years in the health service.

She initially trained as a nurse, starting out as a cadet in 1972, before going on to qualify as a midwife in 1980. Anne then rose to become community midwifery manager in 2001 before becoming head of midwifery for the Trust in 2004. Primarily based at West Cumberland Hospital, she was well known and respected across West Cumbria.

Lesley Carruthers, deputy director of nursing and quality, said: “I would like to thank Anne for all of her years of service to the NHS, not only at West Cumberland Hospital but across the whole of the acute trust and the community.

“Her knowledge, skills and commitment will be greatly missed. We wish her all the best for a relaxing retirement – I know she is looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren.”
