THE wife of a 35-year-old motorcyclist who died after a crash has paid tribute to a much devoted dad.

Kevin Ritson, of Herdus Road, Whitehaven, died at the Royal Preston Hospital after he was airlifted with serious injuries following the crash on the A595 at Whitbeck, near Millom.

His wife, Anna, this afternoon paid tribute to him.

“Kevin was my childhood sweetheart. He really was one in a million. A much devoted dad to Christopher and Layla. Also a much loved son and brother.

"Kevin was passionate about cars and motorbikes. He had not long changed his career to sell cars instead of carpets and life was good.

"He will be missed forever.”

Mr Ritson was riding a red Honda CBR heading towards Bootle when it is reported he lost control on a sharp bend and crashed into a hedge.

The crash happened at around 6.35pm yesterday and the road between the A5093 junction in Silecroft and Chapel Lane in Bootle was closed for several hours to allow investigation work to be carried out.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident or anyone who saw two motorcycles riding in the area before the crash to get in touch.

Call Cumbria police on 101 if you have information and ask for the mobile support group.
