A group of friends and volunteers at Rosehill Theatre knitted 36 twiddlemuffs in September’s mammoth fundraising event, and visited the West Cumberland Hospital’s Kirkstone Ward last week to donate them.
Twiddlemuffs are hand-muffs with textured items attached to provide stimulation for those with dementia and other memory-related conditions.
Three women – Lyn Baker, Maureen Monkhouse and Maggie Bedford – lasted the full 24 hours and Joan Fasilino completed 17, while seven others did stints of between two and eight hours. A team of supporters were also on hand.
The event also raised £1,265 towards Rosehill’s redevelopment.
The group will produce twiddlemuffs on request for a minimum £12 donation (they cost up to £50 elsewhere). Telephone Lyn Baker on 01946 692422.
