A host of creative artwork will go on display in Santon Bridge Village Hall over the bank holiday weekend.

The members of the Art In Irton group enjoy a common bond of art exploration, and will share their talent with the public in the annual three-day exhibition.

Virtually all aspects of subject matter are covered by the group – from landscape to pure abstraction, depicted in a wide variety of media.

Members of the group hold communal workshops loosely based on a theme, with recent subjects including the creation of textures and working in monochrome.

There is now also a spin-off group who meet for regular life-drawing sessions at Florence Arts Centre, Egremont. A recent group outing

featured a day in Liverpool, taking in the Walker Art Gallery and the Liverpool Tate. On the return journey, a stop was made at Crosby on Merseyside to view Anthony Gormley’s famous standing figures on the shoreline.

Held on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 11am to 5pm, the event will see the artists man the exhibition themselves so they are on hand to discuss their work and answer questions.

Entry is free and refreshments are available. As well as original artworks, there will also be ceramics, prints and cards for sale
