Festive fun will be offered at a Christmas market in Whitehaven next month.

A car boot sale will also be held along James Street to add to the atmosphere.

The event, which runs from November 17 to 20, will be launched as a start to the town’s Christmas run-down.

It will also coincide with Whitehaven festive lights switch-on to be held on November 20 by The Voice singer Jolan.

Copeland mayor Mike Starkie said the aim was to “build on the momentum’’ of the newly revamped market which saw thousands visit in September.

Local shops saw their takings boosted and there is now plans for a regular programme of events.
