A CELEBRATION event is taking place in Whitehaven on Saturday to mark 140 years of the Mothers' Union.
It will be held at the St Nicholas Centre from 10am until 3pm.
People will be able to buy pie and peas, sandwiches, toasties and cakes. Money raised will go numerous national and overseas causes.
Events are taking place around the country to mark the Union's milestone, and raise cash.
Sheila Kelly, of the parish of Whitehaven's Mothers' Union says the society is involved in projects to empower women and look at all aspects of family life.
The Union meets once a month at St James Church community centre and also run a weekly mums and toddlers group there during term time.
