A BOXING match has raised £265 in memory of a Whitehaven teenager.

Callum Milne fought Darren Pears at a charity event held at the town's Civic Hall.

The cash was then donated by Callum to Heartline in memory of Sarah McKain who died aged 19 in June 2013.

She had a rare heart defect and was committed to helping others with similar conditions, as well as fundraising for different causes.

Following her death, her family set up Sarah's Star Fund. This year the charity has donated £3,000 to pay for site fees on a holiday caravan used by families with a child suffering from heart disease.

Sarah's Star Fund has previously helped refurbished another caravan as well as donate £100 to buy toys.

Subsequently, plaques have been installed in memory of Sarah at the holiday caravans based in the New Forest and at Mablethrope, near Skegness.

A charity night will be held on Friday, July 1, in aid of Sarah's Star Fund, at the Haven Club, Whitehaven. The event will including entertainment from the Hudson Sisters with Tony Pearce compering. Auction prizes include a signed Jolan picture and a signed Wigan shirt.

Hannah McKain, Sarah's sister and event organiser, said: "We would like to thank Callum, and all those who sponsored him, as well as everyone else for their continuous support. We may only be a small fund but with everyone’s help we are making a big difference.''
