The town council will discuss purchasing £600 of bulbs and the installation of a £239 metal bin at its next meeting.
Snowdrops, English bluebells and wild garlic could be planted as the council looks to boost wildlife in the area. The previous bin in the area was destroyed by vandals and the town council has received complaints about litter in the area.
Councillor Richard Wood supported the idea to plant more flowers and replace the bin.
He said: “I think we should be enhancing the Bighill area. Let’s make it more accessible for all kinds of wildlife and people.”
A number of bird and bat boxes will be installed in the area as well after a generous donation from Sellafield apprentices.
The town council will have the boxes installed, possibly through the local lengthsman scheme, in February.
There is expected to be more than 10 bird boxes and two bat boxes donated.
