HELP and advice for people living with dementia will be available in Whitehaven tomorrow (Friday).

An informal drop-in session will be held at Morrisons, from 11am until 1pm.

The event is being led by the Alzheimer’s Society. It aims to help anyone with dementia, their family and friends, giving them access to experts from several organisations.

Representatives from Age UK, the Citizens Advice Bureau, West Cumbria Carers, the library service and the NHS Cumbria Partnership’s Memory Matters team will be there.

Kizzy Livermore, Alzheimer’s Society dementia support worker, said: “It’s an informal drop-in session so anyone either affected by dementia or who feels they need to know more about the condition can attend. This type of multi-agency working means people avoid the stress of having to tell their story several times and ensures the person best able to support their needs is identified as quickly as possible. On the day we will showcase the work we do, particularly our carer education workshops.”

West Cumbria Carers will cover assessments and contingency plans, Age UK will talk about ways to reduce social isolation and the CAB will be on hand with information about benefits.
