A new face has been chosen as the winner of an Egremont barber shop competition – and won an iPad in the process.

Kaiden Block was named as the winner of The LAD Barber’s 2017 search to find its new promotional star.

The Main Street shop presented the youngster with an iPad as well as offering him a year’s free haircuts and a photoshoot. Four other finalists will receive a £50 gift voucher.

“We run the competition every year as I was looking at ideas to grow our social media page and thought the Face of TheLADbarber would be a good idea,” said owner Gary Sommerville.

“I’ve been blown away by the feedback from this year’s competition – the Facebook post had over 50,000 interactions.

"All the entrants have been amazing and their parents, for taking part on the journey to the final. It’s a shame there can only be one winner. The top three were separated by 10 votes! That’s how close it was.”

Alongside Gary, judges included Scottish MMA fighter Paul Craig, former America’s Next Top Model contestant Ashley Brown and model Leah Francis.

Participants uploaded a photo of themselves to the barbers' Facebook page and the five photos with the most likes got through to the final.

The barber shop celebrates its second birthday this month and Gary has also opened a second shop in Hamilton, Scotland.
