THREE men have been arrested following a serious assault in Whitehaven.
It occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 14).
Police were contacted at 3:08am on Sunday morning following an incident on George Street where a man was assaulted.
The victim, a man aged in his 30s, suffered serious injuries and is currently at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle in a critical but stable condition.
Police have arrested three men on suspicion of assault GBH with intent. The three men, aged 41, 32 and 29 remain in police custody this morning (April 15).
Enquires are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident.
