A MISSING paddleboarder has been found following growing concern after a paddleboard was found with a snapped safety cord.

While dealing with a separate incident to help five people who had got into trouble while canoeing on Derwent water, on Friday, April 12 reports came in of an unattended paddle board in open water near to Friar’s Crag.

The five from the canoe rescue advised that it did not belong to them but they had seen it earlier near to St Herbert’s Island.

A search of the lake and lakeshore was initiated with the various agencies already present including the coastguard helicopter. At 10pm the various teams stood down.

An urgent appeal was issued by Allerdale police who were concerned, saying 'as part of the emergency call, this paddleboard was located, unattended in the middle of the lake, the ankle leash has snapped'.

Over the weekend, Keswick Mountain Rescue Team reported that the paddleboarder was found 'alive and well' after he was blown off his board but made it safely back to shore.
