Parents across Cumbria can look forward to a wide range of fun-filled activities to entertain their children throughout the Easter holidays.
Stagecoach has compiled a list of fun activities that are accessible by bus, proving that adventure does not require long car journeys and expensive fuel bills.
Bus fares are restricted to £2 per journey.
The Beacon Museum, Whitehaven
The Beacon Museum is hosting a variety of craft workshops where children can create pom-pom chicks, lambs, and bunnies, and a colourful basket to carry them home in.
The workshops will take place on March 30, March 31, April 1, April 8, April 9 and April 10 at 11am and 2pm.
The cost per child is £7.50; however, this does not include museum admission.

Lowther Castle, Penrith
Stimulate your child's imagination at Lowther Castle with climbing towers, wobbly bridges and secret tunnels, all assembled from wood for safe climbing fun.
Additionally, families can participate in the castle’s Easter garden trail, Tales of the Golden Egg.
All participants receive a small Easter prize.

World of Beatrix Potter, Bowness-on-Windermere
Fans of the beloved author can step into The World of Beatrix Potter, offering several Easter activities, including a mini egg trail on March 30 and 31, Peter Rabbit tea parties, and meet-and-greets with Peter Rabbit.
Children can also join in with sculpture painting activities with Jemima Puddle Duck or Peter Rabbit.

Adventure Quest at Carlisle Castle
Families hunting for a more challenging adventure can visit Carlisle Castle to embark on a fun quest up until Sunday, April 14.

The quest costs £2 per child, excluding castle entrance fees.

Easter international Market, Carlisle city centre
For a cultural experience, venture into Carlisle city centre and peruse the Easter international market from Thursday, March 28 to Monday, April 1.
It is set to be an international extravaganza with a variety of authentic continental treats.
More than 40 traders will display unique wares and international cuisine, appealing to all the family’s taste buds and gift needs.

Honister Slate Mine, Borrowdale
Older children may find the adrenaline-pumping activities at Honister Slate Mine thrilling.
Enjoy an underground mine tour, take the opportunity to climb the mine, confront the Infinity Bridge or take on the Via Ferrata Classic or Extreme.

Threlkeld to Keswick railway path
Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a walk on the Threlkeld to Keswick railway path.
The path reopened in December 2020 and is a suitable walking route for all family members.
The patch stretches 5km in each direction and follows the route of the old Keswick to Penrith Railway.

Easter egg hunt at Wordsworth House and Gardens, Cockermouth
For a literary adventure, visit the Wordsworth House and Gardens in Cockermouth for an Easter egg hunt.
Participants can collect an activity pack from the welcome desk and explore the premises for hidden surprises.
Activities include wild art and lively games.
Participants will receive a chocolate or vegan and Free From egg upon completion.

Family Hub on the Harbour, Whitehaven
The newly refurbished Family Hub on the Harbour is set to open its doors.
Opening on April 11 from 11am to 3pm, community members can enjoy free fun activities at the refurbished former Barclays Bank.
The hub will provide a range of family-based services in partnership with other organisations for families, children and young people aged 0-19– and up to 25 for people with special educational needs and disabilities.
