A WOMAN made lewd comments to police and then kicked out at an officer while waiting to be seen in a busy A&E waiting room.

Angel Paris-Jordan, 39, had been arrested for unrelated matters on February 4. She had attended the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven for treatment, along with police officers, Workington Magistrates’ Court heard.

Pamela Fee, prosecuting, said the defendant made ‘lewd’ and ‘unpleasant’ comments to officers while in the A&E waiting room, which was full of members of the public, including children. She also swore at members of the public.

The defendant had then kicked out at a police officer and made contact with her foot.

Paris-Jordan was last before the court in December 2019 and was described as having some ‘complex issues’.

John Cooper, defending, said: She is quite vulnerable. There are some very significant concerns.”

Paris-Jordan, of Keekle Terrace, Keekle, pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker and failing to surrender to custody.

Nick Holt-Kentwell, chair of the magistrates, said: “We ask for a pre-sentence report. We have heard about the vulnerability issues. We ask you to engage with the probation service.”

The case was adjourned for sentence until March 25. Paris-Jordan was granted bail, on the condition that she attends a probation appointment on March 13.

As Paris-Jordan left the dock, she said ‘thank you, shalom’ to magistrates.
