THE Entrepreneurs' Markets in Whitehaven will not go ahead this month due to poor weather.

TEG Retail, which organises the monthly markets, announced on Tuesday, January 16, that the markets will not be going ahead.

The gazebo stalls will only withstand winds of 20mph and the weather forecast states that winds could reach at least 40mph.

A TEG Retail spokesperson said: "The success of the market proves why we need a permanent indoor space for start-up traders.

"Our goal is to provide that space in Whitehaven and other areas in Cumbria.

"Town centre regeneration has to start with traders' markets and the expertise of local mentors.

"Thank you for your continuous support to local businesses, their success is because you buy from them, please shop local where possible.

"We hope to see you next month on February 17 at King Street, Whitehaven."

TEG Retail had over 35 businesses trading on the weekend, they will instead ask them to post links to their sites on social media so customers can still buy their goods.
