St Bees' headmaster, Robin Silk, will step down from his role to embark on a new career journey.

Mr Silk, who joined the school in the summer of 2021, will be remembered for his significant contributions to the school’s substantial growth, seeing student numbers 'rise exponentially'.

His departure, set for August, marks his return to international education.

Before joining St Bees, he spent a majority of his teaching career on the global educational stage.

His next chapter begins at the King’s School Vattanacville in Cambodia, where he will serve as Founding Principal.

Despite Mr Silk's departure, he assures both staff and students of his unwavering commitment to leading the school until the end of the academic year.

Andrew Keep, current Deputy Head and Head of Sixth Form, will step into the role of Interim Head until his own retirement in August 2025.

According to the school, Mr Keep’s appointment is a strategic act to assure the students and staff of continuity, with the ambition of propelling St Bees further on its path of growth.

Mr Keep’s tenure at St Bees began in 2010, and he had undertaken a variety of roles at the school until the closure in 2015.

When St Bees shuttered, Mr Keep moved to The Whitehaven Academy where he played a pivotal role in the transformation of their Sixth Form.

He returned to St Bees in 2020 and has since remained an integral part of the school, establishing a thriving Sixth Form environment.

Starting with 13 new students, Mr Keep created a learning environment for A Level subjects and ensured a welcoming space for students experiencing an English school setting for the first time.

Mr Keep's holistic approach to education 'aligns seamlessly' with the ethos of Full Circle Education Group, who owns St Bees School.
