A WEST Cumbrian couple have created their own unique brand to provide 'the perfect Cumbrian merchandise' recognising the pride people have for the county.

Evie Mccrickard, 22 and Jordan Brown, 24 from Egremont  have been together for 6 years. The pair have both lived in Cumbria since birth.

The couple created Shop Marra, which specialises in anything Cumbrian, from T-shirts and hoodies to keyring’s and handmade saying they 'provide the prefect Cumbrian merchandise'.

The brand was created in August 2023 not long after Evie unexpectedly lost her mam Caroline, they noticed that there wasn’t anything like Shop Marra in the area and decided to take the risk and go for it.

Evie designs all the t-shirts and then Jordan helps to make them, shipping them out and marketing, with all products hand made in Egremont.

The couple said: "Since opening we have found business quite stressful but worth every second. Getting to make products and see people wearing clothing we have made makes us extremely happy every time. We have had t-shirts and keyrings travel the globe to Australia, The Netherlands and America.

"We believe that being Cumbrian comes with a strong sense of pride for the area and allowing other people to show there pride for the best county in the UK is priceless, seeing the smiles on customers faces makes all the stress worth it."

"Our aspirations for the future is to just keep growing and doing the best we can. Currently we are still online only as we work from home around our day jobs. We would like to expand in the future to give us room to make more products on a larger scale.

"We are working everyday to get out name out there and spread the word of Shop Marra, eventually we would like to have everyone in Cumbria with something from Shop Marra."

When asked what is the best thing about their business, the pair said: "We would say seeing the smiles on people’s faces and the feeling of pride when we get to see people enjoy what we have created. It never gets old. From seeing kids to elderly in our t-shirt each and everyone is just as appreciative.

"Since starting Shop Marra we have been fairly successful we have had a lot of interest in the products, we have received a-lot of good feedback from customers and the public when we have attended markets. "

The couple say that as far as they are aware there is nothing like Shop Marra in the area, saying: "We like to be unique and bring products no one else is selling.

"Our whole concept sets us apart from any shop in the area, we are proud to be Cumbrian and want to share that with everyone we can.

"All of of products are hand made in Cumbria by Cumbrians we have a lot of pride in what we do that sets us apart from the rest."
