PROUD parents have been flocking to primary schools to see their children take to the stage as Mary, Joseph and the three wise men.

Youngsters have been dazzling their families with their renditions of the traditional nativity play following hours of rehearsals.

We are featuring three schools which submitted their nativity photographs to The Whitehaven News this week.

Early Years and Key Stage One pupils at Hensingham Primary School performed ‘A Very Wiggly Nativity’.

Eilidh Murphy, Key Stage One teacher, said: “All our Nativity stars have worked so hard to put on an amazing show for all of our audiences! For the beautiful singing, enthusiastic actions and courageous speaking parts, all of us at Hensingham Primary could not be prouder of our fantastic pupils.”

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School at Kells put on an Early Years foundation production of ‘The Nursery Rhyme Nativity’ on Thursday and Friday in the school hall, which was full of parents and family members.

The audience thought that the show was brilliant and those who came on both days said that the second performance was even better than the first.

Key Stage One children at St James’ C of E Infant School performed ‘A Little Bird told me today’ - the story of a little Robin who joins a flock of birds flying south to visit a special baby and tells everyone the news along the way.

Headteacher Alex Moore said: “The children in the nativities were fabulous and the parents thoroughly enjoyed all of the performances. We would like to thank our families for their support as always and the staff for working so hard to put on the shows.”
