A DAZZLING Christmas window display inspired by city shop windows has been named the best in town.

Angel’s Perfect 10 with Angela, a beauty salon based on Roper Street, has won Whitehaven and District Chamber of Trade’s annual Christmas window display competition.

The festive display features an impressive doorframe garland, along with pink Christmas trees and Gonks in the windows to match the interior of the salon.

A record 51 businesses took part in this year’s competition, with judges spending two days walking around the town, ranking each Christmas window display.

Charles Maudling, chairman of Whitehaven and District Chamber of Trade, said: “It was a very high standard. After three hours of going through them all again, Angel’s Perfect 10 were the worthy winners.

“A huge thank you to all the businesses that had Christmas window displays, making the town sparkle. They look amazing.”

Angela Lewthwaite, who has been running Angel’s Perfect 10 for 12 years, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have won the top spot in this year’s competition.

“It’s been a journey of steady progress - we came in second last year and third the year before. So to finally win after putting in even more effort feels fantastic.

“My talented friend, Sharon Hodgson, helped massively in the design process. She was inspired by the designs she saw in the city shop windows. I just couldn’t wait to get started on my salon after seeing all the pictures.

“A lot of the salon is coloured in pink so we decided to extend this colour scheme to our window display. We managed to find a beautiful pink Christmas tree and some Gonks that perfectly complemented the theme.

“I really hope that the display makes everyone feel a bit more festive and inspires others to do the same.”
